About

I was born in Iwate, Japan.

In 1995 I established my studio in Skjervøy (Norway) until 2003 and in Svarstad (Norway) since 2005 where I currently work. I have had 4 solo exhibitions in Norway and many group exhibitions both in Norway and abroad.

My work is inspired by nature. The nature that I´m surrounded by in my daily life. It can be a tiny wood piece, some plants, a line at beach, a stratum which can be seen here and there etc. that kind of things.

Lots of thoughts come along.

There is desire I want to make these moments with thoughts as a form.

Most of my work are wood-fired. The ash and flame create amazing variation of colours and textures on pots. The ash melts and becomes natural glaze.

I use wood from my local. There´s industrial forest near by, so it´s plenty leftover there. It´s just a part of process which gives me extra work. Some might think silly, and it might true. Well, for me still it makes some kinda sense who I am, so as what I believe in.

It was 2001, I fired wood-kiln for the first time. I built my first temporary wood-kiln in 2014 which was desaster. Since then I have been built new one every year for tried out with some changes. So far so good. I think I´m getting ready to build my parmanent kiln soon.
